Oral Bacteria

Oral bacteria are one of the main causes of chronic bad breath. Regular brushing and flossing your teeth and regular brushing or scraping of your tongue should be enough to get rid of bad breath.

Oral bacterial lives in your mouth, particularly around and under the tongue so getting rid of food particles and plaque from your mouth should be a priority. That way bacteria cannot survive in your mouth and your badbreath should lessen.

Regular brushing and flossing is one of the best routines you can introduce to eliminate oral bacteria and bad breath from your life.

Food Can Cause Bad Breath

You already know that onions and garlic can cause short-term bad breath. One Italian pizza with too many onions and garlic, or a dish of garlic prawns will do it every time.

If this is the case and a single meal has caused your bad breath then try eating a sprig of parsley, cloves, fennel seeds or peppermint to mask the odor.  None of these things will get rid of the bad breath, after all that’s in your intestinal tract. So you have to wait until your body has disposed of it naturally; that could be a day or so but eating these things will cover the smelly breath in the meantime.

If a few too many onions or garlic is causing you to have bad breath then investigate why your stomach or digestive system isn’t coping. You may need to take digestive enzymes and by support your digestive system you might find a cure for your bad breath.

Smoking Causes Bad Breath

The strong tobacco smell easily permeates your clothing, hair and your skin. It’s no wonder your breath can also smell of bad breath. Tobacco can leave your gums and teeth prone to gum disease which also causes bad breath.  The best way to prevent mouth and gum disease caused by smoking is to stop smoking; guaranteed to get rid of your bad breath too.

Dentures Causing Bad Breath

Chronic bad breath or halitosis often occurs if your dentures are not cleaned thoroughly and regularly.  It’s easy for food particles to get caught around the dentures and unless they are washed regularly, the food particles will allow any oral bacteria to thrive in your mouth causing bad breath.

Dry Mouth Caused Bad Breath

Another cause of bad breath and chronic halitosis is a condition called dry mouth. Without a regular flush of water or moisture to clean the walls of the mouth, the air inside gets caught and becomes stale causing bad breath. Bacteria remain there – breeding.  Drinking between 6-8 glasses of water a day will help replenish moisture in your mouth and flush out oral bacteria.  Regular brushing and flossing will help flush out any nasties and prevent bad breath.

If you want a cure for your bad breath then first find the cause of your bad breath so can match the treatment to cause and stop bad breath.  It’s not that hard and the reward is a fresh, clean mouth and smiling faces.
